1. What’s your full name and where are you from?
My full name is Emily Shelton, but I usually go by Shelton or Shel. I grew up in Parma, Ohio, and moved to Tennessee for the amazing art program provided by Austin Peay.
 
2. What category are you competing in (Performance, Fashion, or Film)?
I’m competing in the Film category.
 
3. What inspired you to submit to Artsville LIVE this year?
I am committed to sharing my art with the world to empower individuals, reminding them that they are not alone, and to boldly uncover the truth.
 
4. Tell us a little bit about your piece or performance.
I wanted to capture the overwhelming feeling of overconsumption in the world today. Our lives are filled with constant distractions, overwhelming our minds and preventing us from enjoying the simplest things in life. Creativity isn't about comparing yourself; it is a completely personal experience that shouldn't be defined or dictated by anyone else.  Sometimes, the only way to get that spark back is to look within, instead of always looking out.
 
5. How long have you been practicing your craft or art form?
I’ve been creating content for over ten years, and I’ve been working with Adobe tools for about half that time.
 
6. Who or what influences your creative work the most?
My work is inspired by all the creators I grew up with. Artists like Rebecca Sugar, Daina Terrace, and Toby Fox are some of the people I look up to most. They've inspired me to stay determined and continue making new art, even in a world where everything has already been done.
 
7. What’s something people might not know about your creative process?Once I have an idea in my mind, I immediately have to start working on it, or it never happens. Good ideas and inspiration doesn't come often, so when I come up with something interesting, I always try my hardest to make it a reality.
 
8. How do you hope people feel when they see your work?
I want people to be reminded of their roots, that despite the constant bombardment of content, there's an entire natural world out there teeming with life and inspiration. I want people to feel comforted knowing that there is always an idea waiting, you just need to take a moment to find it.

10. If you win Artsville LIVE, how do you plan to use the $1,000 prize?
If I were to win Artsville LIVE, I would utilize the $1,000 prize to further my journey of inspiration and content creation. This funding would allow me to produce more films that reflect the profound emotions I strive to convey through my art, fostering connections with others and delivering the important messages that need to be heard.
